Coming Home to Catholicism

This program is part of our parish outreach and evangelization effort to embrace Catholics who would like to explore the possibility of returning to the active practice of our Faith.

Coming Home to Catholicism

All the team members of this outreach program have at one time left the Church for various reasons – Church laws, misunderstandings, confusion, or apathy. Come to the introductory session to hear their stories. Listen to why they left and how they returned.

You’ve been away - and you have been missed! Come to discover the connections between the teachings of Christ and His Church and the needs and challenges of your daily life.

All seven sessions begin at 7 PM in our Church hall. The 2 hour sessions fly by and we find that many times people want to hang around and talk for a bit longer.

Returning to Church can be intimidating, but we try to make it easy and fun at the same time. Bring a friend! All are welcome!!!

Introductory session will be held

Schedule

You can explore the possibilities of coming home during our 7 week, non-confrontational program. Each session is independent of the other; so if you can’t attend one, you can jump right back in on the next meeting night.

Sessions
  1. Why do Catholics leave the Church? What keeps them away? Hear testimonials from others who were where you are now, and what brought them back. All discussions are confidential. No clergy will be present.
  2. Spend an evening with the Pastor; he will address the questions and issues from Session 1 which will be submitted to him anonymously. Father also explains the structure of the Church and its overall mission.
  3. The Sacraments, what are they? A film will re-introduce them to you. See what you remember…or what you forgot!! You’ll also hear the Deacon describe his role and duties in our community.
  4. Explore the Bible. Find out if your Bible is a Catholic Bible. Learn how to find passages and interpret meanings. Discover our Jewish roots and their fulfillment in the New Testament.
  5. Learn about the power of prayer in all its forms and discover how the Mass, our greatest prayer, can significantly impact your life.
  6. Get plugged into the community. Explore ways to bring our Catholic values into every day life. Learn how to prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
  7. Attend an evening Mass and go on a behind the scenes tour of our Church. Discover the richness of our traditions and their significance to our faith.
