Rev. Michael R. Monette began his pastorate at Saint Kathryn Parish on August 7, 2019. Born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire, Father Michael attended local Catholic schools, graduating from Bishop Guertin High School in 1991. He experienced a desire to be a priest from an early age, and after high school he entered Wadhams Hall Seminary College in Ogdensburg, New York where he pursued his undergraduate studies in philosophy and religious studies. He completed his theological studies at St. John Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts.
Ordained to the priesthood in 1999, Father Michael has served in various parishes throughout the Diocese of Manchester. After ordination, he first served as parochial vicar of Our Lady of Mercy in Merrimack, New Hampshire. He also served as parochial vicar in Berlin, New Hampshire, assisting in the final consolidation of the city parishes into the single community of Good Shepherd. In 2002, he was appointed pastor of Mary, Mother of the Church in Newton, New Hampshire where he served for eleven years and in 2007, he also assumed the responsibility as pastor of Holy Angels Parish in Plaistow, New Hampshire. In 2011, he was assigned to the parish communities of Keene, Troy, Hinsdale, and Winchester New Hampshire, assisting the priests in the administration of those parish communities. Most recently, he has served as pastor of Saint Patrick Church in Newport and Saint Joachim Church in Sunapee, New Hampshire for six years. In addition to his parochial responsibilities, Father Michael has also served in the Diocesan Tribunal.
Among his pastoral experiences during his various assignments has been the organization of Y.B. Catholic Conferences, hosting such Catholic speakers as Stephen Ray, Marcus Grodi, Roy Schoeman, Theresa Tomeo, and Father Tad Pacholczyk, Ph.D. He has also led pilgrimages to various shrines in the United States, Canada, Italy, and the Holy Land. He has a tremendous love for our Lady and learning about the lives of the saints. He also enjoys walking, biking, reading a variety of literature such as history, mysteries, and biographies and spending time with family and friends.
